Finding beauty in the natural world; Renee F. Wrenwood explores the majesty of mountains, the intricacies of a single flower, and the details and impressions that make life the interesting show that it is. Renee is an award-winning local artist. She loves the surprises that water media present; the way the paint and water move upon the paper are part of the thrill of creating. The freshness and beauty of her watercolors express the gloriousness of nature.

SOLD!
"An Apple..." sold during the MAST tour. I love that an educator now owns it - she wanted to hang it in her office. I think the ABC's on the blackboard in the background might have sparked a memory... see it on this website.

"Prairie Diptych" A little two part painting went to an enthusiastic collector.

"Phantasmic Poppies" went to that same collector... enjoy! Also on this website!
MAST - A wonderful art experience was had by all!
A beautiful weekend of art; complete with art fans, some of whom were old friends, some becoming new friends, warm sunny weather, and of course the artworks themselves. A big thank you to all who attended, and to all who helped set-up in the final pre MAST hours!

Gail McLaughlin's pottery wall pockets were a big hit; her paintings and sculptures were much admired!

I received extremely positive feedback on my watercolors. Some interesting and wonderful possibilities for art projects were born, and Gail and I both demonstrated our techniques for creating our art.

My Meyer lemon tree had its share of admirers; people just had to touch the lemons to see if they were real.

The drawing for artworks donated by MAST Artists (Gorgeous!) went smoothly, helped along by a high school docent named Amy (thank you, Amy!) and Val Studer, another artist on the tour.

What a great opportunity to share a love of art!

MAST McKinney Art Studio Tour---fantastic & fun!
The tour was an awesome opportunity to share my art with visitors, watch them paint on the "community painting", and meet other artists, art lovers, and collectors. Weather was (mostly) beautiful, which was great as the garage door to my studio was open all weekend. I loved that the people who purchased paintings found ones that really touched them. Happy homes for my painted progeny! Makes me glad, too.
McKinney Art Studio Tour (MAST) Nov. 10 & 11 2012 (Sat. 10:00 am-7:00 pm, Sun. noon-5:00 pm
Once again, I'm gearing up for MAST. Cleaning the studio (wouldn't I love to pretend that it's this neat all year round!), madly finishing paintings that are "almost there", matting and framing, pulling out recipes for snacks to serve, adding lights to my garden (we're running until 7:00 on Saturday, Nov 10 and it's gonna' be mighty dark), and pressing friends and family into service as cleaners, docents and support personnel.

I will have my vibrant watercolor paintings on display along with my new and exciting watercolor-on-paper/acrylic-on-canvas works. I will be demonstrating my techniques for watercolor painting.

Watercolorist and sculptor Gail McGlaughlin will join me with her extraordinary work. Awesome work from several of my watercolor students will be featured. We'll be hosting a community painting project that you get to paint on (to be given to the Samaritan Inn, our local homeless shelter).

C'mon down and have an art-imersion day! Joy! Renee

Come visit my studio at The Third Annual McKinney Art Studio Tour ( MAST)
DATE: Saturday, November 12, 2011 --- 10am-5pm
Sunday, November 13, 2011 --- Noon-4pm

Seventeen visual artists, four galleries and one club from the greater McKinney area are participating in the 3rd Annual McKinney Art Studio Tour (MAST).

This fall’s show embodies the group’s heart-felt mission, which is to introduce the public to artists in their studios and to spark interest in the processes, materials and ideas related to art.

Although the artists work in diverse ways with a wide variety of media, they all share a passion for creating art. MAST gives the public a chance to explore the ways in which the artists approach their art practices through the use of techniques, materials and processes. The artists are making their entire process of creation visible, giving those who come to the tour a chance to see what goes on behind-the-scenes. This is a once-a-year opportunity to visit the artists in their own creative environments.

The galleries on the tour are all located in Historic Downtown McKinney. They are The Garrett Art Gallery, Imaging On The Square, Debra Linker and The Artists’ Loft, Laura Moore Fine Art Studios, and Orisons.

Artists participating in the open studio tour are found on the historic east side of McKinney as well as the newer west side. They are: Pattie Bowler – watercolors, acrylics and mixed media; Pernie Fallon – pastel, oil; Guy Giersch – photography; Weeda Hamdan – oil and mixed media; Carolyn Hewitt – acrylic, jewelry; Pam Holzknecht – oil, acrylic; Lynne Hubner – printmaking; Sona Knox – pottery, painting, teaching; Leo Malboeuf – oil; Laura Moore – painting and drawing, gallery owner; Kerry Randol-Johnston – pottery, painting; Cate Robbins – 2D media; Anne Royer – acrylic and oil; L.C. Tobey – art glass; Ann Williams – photography and multimedia; Carol Williams – watercolor, charcoal; and Renee Wrenwood – watercolor.

New to the MAST lineup this year is the YAH-YAH Club (Young at Heart Artists), an illustrious group of Towne Creek seniors taught by Toni Andrukaitis along with volunteer Karen Donaldson. Members include Marsha Charles, Eleanor Correnty, Kathy Human, Nelma Hyde, Marie Milligan, Kate Peltz, Bonnie Vincent and Nancy Winkle.

One piece from each participating artist will also be on display at
Café Málaga in downtown McKinney from October 24 through the first of the year.

Tickets for this event are a work of art in themselves. Designed and hand-printed by printmaker Lynn Hubner, they are $5 per person and may be purchased at the five downtown galleries on the tour, The Art House and at each art studio. Tickets are free for those 18 and under.
