I wanted to paint a watercolor with lots of texture. I selected some gossamer-thin Unryu paper, also known as, "Cloud Dragon Paper," for it's softness and delicate fibers (love it!). After I crumpled it, I wet it with diluted archival glue, and attached it to a piece of watercolor paper. I quickly added paint whilst the paper was still wet, getting in the blues of the sky and leaving the white of the paper to depict the light. I added the dark bark of one of my favorite subjects, winter trees, with their intricate pattern of bare branches. I then spattered white paint to finish the painting.
