While digging some pesky bug larva out of this Purple Coneflower's center, I accidentally split the flower-head. It seemed so interesting to me to be able to see the flower's fading skirt of petals and the inner workings of the soon-to-be-seedhead, all at the same time! I have a special fondness for native prairie plants. Combine that with watercolor and I'm one happy painter/gardener.
