I love hollyhocks! So old fashioned and nostalgic, yet dramatic and commanding with their lovely colors and extreme height in the garden.

This painting is the result of a fun and challenging watercolor pour; a process where paint is actually applied with squirt bottles using only the 3 primary colors; yellow, red, and blue! The actual brushwork is done with liquid mask which retains the color underneath, allowing the artist to pour layers of color and still create a realistic image. Love it!
