As I painted this tea rose, I saw that it was perfect --- so perfect that it bored me. I pulled background colors over and onto the rose and some of the pink from the rose into the background, slopping it around a bit. Much more pleasing! I finished it with gold leaf on the torn edges of the paper. Private collection.
